Bobwhite Brigade
Quail hunting can be hit or miss in Texas. Because of the bobwhite’s distribution, as well as its habitat needs, consider yourself lucky if you’ve ever had a chance to hunt Texas quail! Whether it’s a “boom” or “bust” year, hearing the familiar “bob-white” whistle can excite novice and experienced hunters, photographers and conservationists, alike.
Both Rolling Plains and South Texas Bobwhite Brigade camps are unique programs that helped drive Texas Brigades to the organization it is now. Both camps educate high-achieving youth (ages 13-17) about Texas quail and natural resource management. Participants will study the anatomy and biology of bobwhite quail, bobwhite diet and nutritional needs/stages, habitat requirements, covey dynamics, as well as predator, habitat and land management. Hunter ethics, firearm handling and safety, and even dog handling are part of the five-day, intensive schedule. These activities are taught in conjunction with the life-skills Texas Brigades incorporates into all programs, such as leadership, team-building, critical thinking, public speaking and communication. Apply now to earn an opportunity to learn about quail and land management, teach others, and hunt with us!
